Registration Codes

This page explains how to tell if your cat is eligible to be shown at TICA shows in Championship, and is also a guide to the status codes that TICA uses when registering cats.

TICA registration codes for pedigree cats follow a standard format: XYZ mmddyy nnn, where:

The combination of the date of birth and the sequence number provides a unique registration number for the cat.

Registration status codes are used to define whether a cat can be shown in Championship, to identify the ancestry of a cat’s ancestors and to record if the cat is the product of two different breeds ("hybridisation").

The following chart shows which breeds are eligible for Championship in TICA, and the associated registration status code(s) acceptable for competition for each category are listed in the second row:

Registration Status Code

SB (Stud Book) as the first two letters of the registration status code means that the cat has no cats which are unknown, unregistered, or of another breed or breed group within a standard three generation pedigree.

01, 02, 03 as the first two characters of the registration status code are Ancestry Record codes:

AO, BO, CO as the first two characters of the registration status code are Hybridisation record codes:

Ancestry and Hybridisation codes can be combined (e.g. A1P, C2P, B3P)
